Ohio Homeland Security Encourages Boaters to be Prepared and Participate in Northern Border Initiative
Warm weather brings a multitude of tourists, boaters and fishermen to the Lake Erie region. These watercraft can be one of Ohio's greatest security resources, and the Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS) is working to encourage boaters and fishermen to be prepared and aware of their surroundings.

Public Safety Officials Urge Cinco de Mayo Revelers to be Safe
Cinco de Mayo has grown into a popular celebration for all cultures throughout the United States. As with most celebrations, alcohol often plays a role in the festivities. This weekend many Ohioans will be attending Cinco de Mayo parties at homes or at liquor permit establishments and the Ohio Department of Public Safety wants to remind everyone to be responsible.

Ohio Department of Public Safety Supports Local Safety Effort
The weather is warming up, school will soon be out, and everywhere you look, kids are running, playing and getting rid of winter cabin-fever. May is National Youth Traffic Safety Month and the Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS) is joining a national effort to remind motorists to drive with care.

Division of EMS Unveils Billboard Campaign Featuring Columbus Division of Fire Personnel
The Ohio Department of Public Safety’s Division of Emergency Medical Services in partnership with the Columbus Division of Fire unveiled digital billboards and posters campaign today to commemorate Trauma Awareness Month and celebrate National Emergency Medical Services Week (May 18-24).

ODPS Divisions Team Up to Increase Safety in Lawrence County
In an effort to combat drunk driving and other illegal activity over the weekend, the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) and Ohio Investigative Unit (OIU) conducted a joint enforcement effort in Lawrence County. OSHP focused on state routes and highways and OIU agents worked liquor permit premises and other entertainment venues.
Changes to Ohio's Graduated Driver License Law
House Bill 343 was signed into law on January 4, 2007, and places certain restrictions on Ohio's young drivers. One of the components of the new law limits the number of passengers a 16-year-old driver can transport in their vehicle. Learn more about the changes that took effect on April 6.
Public Safety Encourages Safe Prom and Graduation Celebrations
Ohio Department of Public Safety Director Henry Guzmán would like to invite safety partners to encourage school officials, parents and students to celebrate prom and graduation safely.
